CHICAGO (October 15, 2021) – Unbeaten across the first six games of its Missouri Valley Conference slate, the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team (9-2-2, 5-0-1 MVC) will close out the road portion of its 2021 schedule on Sunday afternoon when it battles in-state foe Southern Illinois. Kickoff from the Lew Hartzog Track & Field Complex is set for 1 p.m.
Last Time Out: Megan Demski and
Kailee Coonan each scored as Loyola cruised to a 2-0 win over Illinois State this past Wednesday at Adelaide Street Field in Normal, Ill. Demski opened the scoring in the 38
th minute, while Coonan added insurance in the 73
rd minute, doubling the Rambler lead.
Maddie Hausmann made a pair of saves in goal en route to her Valley-best seventh shutout of the year.
vs. Southern Illinois: Southern Illinois enters the home stretch of the season still in search of its first win of 2021, currently sitting at 0-12-1 (0-5-0 MVC). The Salukis have played back-to-back nail biters, dropping consecutive 1-0 decisions to Drake and Evansville.
After scoring just one goal last spring, the Salukis have found the back of the net four times this season, with Hailey Blanchard, Quinn Parks, Ashley Scesniak, and Emma Spotak each tallying goals.
Maddy Alaluf has seen the majority of action between the pipes, posting a 2.01 goals against average and a 0.697 save percentage across 12 appearances.
Series Stuff: Sunday's matchup in Carbondale will mark only the second meeting between Loyola and Southern Illinois in women's soccer. In the first clash between the two programs as MVC rivals back on March 28,
