Red-Hot Ramblers Visit Drake On Sunday

Loyola has won last five meetings against the Bulldogs

CHICAGO (October 1, 2021) – The Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team (7-2-1, 3-0-0 MVC) will look to complete a perfect week on the road when it heads to Des Moines, Iowa on Sunday, October 3 for a 4 p.m. tilt against Drake inside Drake Stadium.

Last Time Out: Loyola continued its perfect start to Missouri Valley Conference play this past Wednesday, picking up a 3-1 win over Evansville at Arad McCutchan Stadium in Evansville, Ind.  After falling into a 1-0 hole at halftime, second-half tallies from Megan Demski, Olivia Knab, and Sarah Noonan sent the Maroon & Gold to a third consecutive victory.

vs. Drake: Currently in the midst of a five-game unbeaten run, Drake enters Sunday's clash with Loyola at 5-3-4 overall (0-0-2 MVC).

The Bulldogs, who were tabbed seventh in the MVC Preseason Poll, have opened league play with back-to-back 1-1 double-overtime draws against Evansville and Indiana State, respectively.

Head coach Lindsey Horner's team is led in the offensive third by the pairing of Libby Helverson and Emma Nagel, both of whom have scored three goals this season.  Helverson has also dished out a pair of assists, sharing the team lead in the category with Delaney Goertzen.  Kelsie Stone has seen the lion's share of action in goal, posting a 0.79 goals against average across 11 appearances, all of which have come in a starting role.

Series Stuff: After going just 1-4-3 in its first eight meetings with Drake, Loyola has rattled off five straight wins over the Bulldogs to open up a 6-4-3 (.577) advantage in the all-time series.  All 13 encounters between the two programs have come as Valley rivals.

Loyola cruised to a 2-0 win over Drake when they last met back on March 5, 2021 at the Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Loves Park, Ill.  Knab opened the scoring just 16 minutes in before Freya Glen added an insurance tally in the 57th minute.  Maddie Hausmann tallied two saves in goal to lead the Maroon & Gold's defensive efforts on the afternoon.

Up Next: Loyola is back in action on Saturday, October 9 when it entertains Missouri State at Loyola Soccer Park.  Senior Day festivities will precede the 1 p.m. kickoff against the Bears.
