Morgan Turner scored in the 52nd minute of play to lift host DePaul to a 1-0 victory over the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team this afternoon at Wish Field in Lincoln Park.  With the win, the Blue Demons improve to 4-2-0 overall, while the Ramblers now sit at 3-4-0.

"I thought the performance was really good again today.  We're playing really good soccer right now but we have to find something deep inside ourselves to get us through this tough stretch and start getting results."
 
How It Happened
Both sides struggled to generate scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes of play.  A corner kick in the eighth minute from senior Taylor Lambouris failed to find a Rambler in the box before it was cleared away.  Turner fired well wide of goal just past the quarter-hour mark for DePaul.
 
Senior Madison Kimball saw what was perhaps the opening stanza's best chance fall to her feet in the 29th minute, rolling an attempt from 10 yards narrowly wide of the far post as the two city rivals headed to halftime deadlocked at 0-0.
 
Turner delivered the game's deciding strike six minutes after the restart, rocketing a shot past freshman goalkeeper Maddie Hausmann and in at the far post to make it 1-0 in favor of DePaul.  Hausmann kept the deficit at one in the ensuing minutes, turning away a pair of attempts.
 
As time began to tick away, Loyola amped up its attack in search of a goal to level the score.  Junior Aleksa Tataryn battled her way into an advantageous position in the box in the 80th minute, only to have her shot blocked by a Blue Demon defender.  Kimball took aim at goal seconds later, putting her shot narrowly off target.  A final attempt by freshman Abby Swanson was blocked shortly after as DePaul held on for a narrow victory.
 
Looking At The Numbers
- Loyola finished the day with an 11-9 edge in shots, led by a four-attempt effort from Kimball.
- Freshman Aly Kilburg made her collegiate debut this afternoon as she came off the bench for 25 minutes.
- Junior goalkeeper Kate Moran earned the start in goal for the Ramblers and did not face a shot in the first half.  Hausmann notched four saves over the final 45 minutes of play.

Loyola is back in action on Sunday afternoon when it wraps up the road portion of its non-conference schedule against Wisconsin at 1 p.m.
