"I was very proud of our execution early in the game after a quick turnaround from a tough game on Friday night. We were able to get a lot of players some quality minutes today, so it was a total team effort."
How It Happened
Loyola wasted no time in taking charge on a warm afternoon in Fort Wayne. Following a shot off the post by senior
Katie Grall, junior
Jenna Szczesny cleaned up the ensuing rebound to put the Ramblers on the board, 1-0, in the fourth minute. Just eight minutes later, sophomore
Aleksa Tataryn added a second for the visitors as she directed home a feed from Grall to make it 2-0.
Following a stop by senior goalkeeper
Maddie Ford on Jessica Schoenfeldt's shot in the 17
th minute, Loyola quickly countered and cashed in for a third tally. Grall unleashed a blast from just inside the box that found its way under the bar as the lead for the Maroon & Gold ballooned to 3-0. Ford would add two more saves before the halftime whistle to ensure that Loyola carried a three-goal advantage into the intermission.
Sophomore
Sienna Cruz opened the scoring in the second half for the Ramblers in the 52
nd minute as she converted off of a corner kick by junior
Taylor Lambouris. Following a goal by Breanna Buche that put the hosts on the board, 4-1, freshman
Lindsey Hardiman scored her second goal in as many games to reestablish a four-goal edge for Loyola, 5-1. Tataryn capped off the scoring for the afternoon in the 69
th minute by converting on a breakaway to provide the final 6-1 scoreline.
Looking At The Numbers

- Szczesny's opening goal was her team and MVC-high eighth tally of the year.
- Grall was credited with assists on the game's first two goals before notching her sixth goal of the season during the first half.
- This afternoon marked the first two-goal performance of Tataryn's career as she brought her total in the category to five.
- All three of Loyola's goalkeepers saw action today, with Ford playing in the first half before sophomore
Kate Moran and freshman
Radhika Patel split time during the second stanza.
