Live Stats vs. Mercer | Live Stats vs. Central Michigan

CHICAGO (August 30, 2017) –
The Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team is preparing to make the two-hour trip north to Milwaukee, Wis. this weekend for the Marquette Invitational.  Mercer will provide the opposition in the event's opening game on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.  The Ramblers will wrap up play at the event against Central Michigan at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Last Time Out: Loyola jumped out to an early two-goal advantage en route to downing Akron, 4-1, in the final game of the Loyola Invitational last Sunday at Loyola Soccer Park.  Junior Jenna Szczesny, sophomores Sienna Cruz and Aleksa Tataryn and freshman Kat Stephens each tallied a goal in the victory for Loyola, who fell to Drexel, 1-0, two days earlier.  Junior Taylor Lambouris was credited with a pair of assists in the win, while senior goalkeeper Maddie Ford stopped a pair of shots.  For their efforts on the weekend, Cruz, Lambouris and Szczesny were all named to the event's All-Tournament Team.

vs. Mercer: Mercer sits at 2-2-0 heading into the weekend after splitting its first four games of the 2017 season.  The Bears are coming off a pair of 2-0 losses to Siena and Kennesaw State, respectively, as part of the Mercer Invitational last weekend in Macon, Ga.  Picked fifth in the Southern Conference's (SOCON) preseason coaches' poll, Mercer is led by the duo of Valeria Bermeo and Logan Culver.  The two combined to find the back of the net seven times for head coach Tony Economopoulos' team last season.  Both Leah Cochran and Jordyn Ebert have seen action in goal this year, with Cochran earning the starting nod in three contests.

vs. Central Michigan: Central Michigan, which holds a 2-1-1 record on the year, will be looking to build off of a pair of wins last weekend.  The Chippewas thumped Robert Morris by a final count of 4-0 in Mount Pleasant, Mich. last Friday before claiming a 3-2 road win in overtime against in-state rival Oakland.  Madison Costner, who scored a pair of goals in the win over the Grizzlies, was named the Mid-American Conference's (MAC) Offensive Player of the Week, while Mary Carlson earned the league's Defensive Player of the Week accolade after notching her first career goal in the team's victory against Robert Morris.  The Chippewa backline has been anchored by goalkeeper Zoie Reed early on this season.  Reed has started in all four of the team's games and owns a 1.40 goals against average.

Up Next: Loyola returns home next Friday (Sept. 8) to host Indiana State at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.  Following their matchup with the Sycamores, the Ramblers will head to Iowa City, Iowa two days later (Sept. 10) for a 1 p.m. tilt with Iowa.
