The Valley on ESPN3 vs. Northern Iowa | Live Stats vs. Northern Iowa
CHICAGO (October 19, 2017) – The Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team will wrap up the regular season portion of its 2017 home schedule on Saturday evening when it welcomes Northern Iowa to Loyola Soccer Park. Prior to the 5 p.m. kickoff, the Ramblers will honor their five graduating seniors in a special pregame ceremony.
Last Time Out: Loyola jumped out to an early three-goal lead as it cruised to a 5-2 win over Kentucky this past Sunday at the Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington, Ky. Senior
Katie Grall led the Rambler attack with two goals, while senior
Avalon Senn-Raemont, junior
Taylor Lambouris and sophomore
Aleksa Tataryn each chipped in single tallies as Loyola picked up its first win over a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent in program history.
vs. Northern Iowa: Northern Iowa finds itself in the midst of a record-breaking 2017 campaign. The Panthers, who own an identical MVC mark to that of Loyola's at 3-2-0, enter Saturday's tilt with an overall record of 11-3-1, having already set a single-season program record for wins. The Panthers snapped a brief two-game skid this past Sunday by defeating Valparaiso, 2-1, in overtime at Brown Field in Valparaiso, Ind. Allison Bitter tallied the game's deciding strike in the 97th minute to clinch a crucial road victory for Northern Iowa. Leading the way for first-year head coach Bruce Erickson's side in the offensive third this season has been the pairing of Brynell Yount and Sarah Brandt. Yount has a team-high seven goals to her name, while Brandt has found the back of the net six times. Jami Reichenberger has been a fixture in goal for the Panthers, having started in all 15 games. She currently leads the Valley in both goals against average (0.65) and shutouts (8).
Series Stuff: Saturday's crucial conference clash will be the 10th between Loyola and Northern Iowa in women's soccer. The two teams split a pair of meetings last season. Northern Iowa picked up a 4-1 win during the regular season but Loyola gained a measure of revenge as it dealt the Panthers a 1-0 defeat in the opening round of the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship. Loyola owns an unblemished 4-0-0 record against Northern Iowa in games played within the friendly confines of Loyola Soccer Park.
After This: Loyola wraps up the regular season on Thursday afternoon when it heads to Des Moines, Iowa to clash with MVC leader Drake. Kickoff from the Cownie Soccer Complex is scheduled for 4 p.m.
