CHICAGO, Ill. - No. 21 DePaul raced out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team, 4-0, this afternoon at Wish Field in Chicago, Ill. The Blue Demons remain unbeaten on the season at 7-0-1, while the Ramblers fall to 3-5-0 overall.

The hosts wasted little time in jumping in front on a cool day in Lincoln Park, going ahead, 1-0, on an Elise Wyatt goal in the 5th minute. DePaul continued to pile on the pressure after its opening goal and was rewarded in the 14th minute when Alexa Ben turned a cross from Rachel Pitman into the back of the net to make it 2-0 with under a quarter of an hour gone.

In an early hole, the Ramblers looked to draw a goal back in immediately after Ben's strike when Allison Shimer fired wide of goal in the 14th minute. Goalkeeper Monica Gonyo made a pair of saves over a ten-minute span, stopping Wyatt and Ben in the 21st and 30th minutes, respectively. Katie Grall's attempt that soared high of goal in the 38th minute would be the Ramblers' final shot of the opening stanza as DePaul took a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.

Loyola looked to catch the Blue Demons napping in the opening seconds of the second half when Kristin Rodriguez forced a save out of DePaul netminder Alejandria Godinez, her only save of the day. Elise Wyatt added a third for the Blue Demons five minutes later, when she ripped a shot past Gonyo from five yards out in the 50th minute to make it 3-0.

Loyola struggled to break down the DePaul backline as the half wore on. Grall forced a save out of Megan Pryz, who was substituted in at goalkeeper for the Blue Demons in the middle stages of the half, in the 84th minute. Amber Paul tacked on a fourth goal for the hosts in the 87th minute when she slammed home a shot from close range. Valerie Gonyo looked to pull back a goal for the Maroon & Gold in the 89th minute but it was to no avail as it floated wide to ensure a 4-0 victory for DePaul.

The Ramblers return to the friendly confines of Loyola Soccer Park on Thursday evening when they play host to Milwaukee, a former Horizon League rival, at 7 p.m.
