CHICAGO -The Ramblers played their third consecutive match in overtime on Friday night, ending the game tied 1-1 with South Dakota. Senior Jessie Hubly knotted the game in the 38th minute, scoring her first goal of the season.

In recognition of Senior Night, the senior class opened the game for the Ramblers, immediately buckling down on defense, and creating set-piece opportunities on the other end of the field. Senior Samantha Welcher was the first to tally a shot, sending the ball wide of the posts in the 18th minute.

The game stayed relatively close during the first half as a defensive struggle ensued between both teams. South Dakota's Kylee Willer was the first to get a point on the board, chipping the ball over sophomore goalkeeper Monica Gonyo in the 35th minute. The lead did not last long for the Coyotes, as Hubly shot from 20 yards out to tie the game, 1-1, heading into halftime.

"It was a good response by the team in coming back from being down by one," said head coach Barry Bimbi. "It was less than two minutes later that we came back to get the game-tying goal, so it was good character building."

After the intermission, Welcher again opened the half for Loyola with another shot wide of the goal, attempting to provide the Ramblers with momentum up top. In the 64th minute Loyola came close to taking the lead as Hubly delivered a corner kick to sophomore Valerie Gonyo, who placed a header on the ball just shy of the net.

Minutes later, sophomore Sammy Gage provided another opportunity for the Ramblers, sending a cross in front of the goal to sophomore Monika Lee who shot the ball directly into the hands of goalkeeper Jen Shaefer. The save was enough to hold Loyola as regulation ended and overtime was signaled.

Neither team was able to produce another goal in double-overtime, ending the game tied 1-1. Loyola outshot the Coyotes 14-7, earning their last chance to take the lead with only 15 seconds left in the second overtime.

"We really didn't play as well as we have in the past," said Hubly. "We need to work on passing the ball more and getting it to players' feet. We have to work on not playing selfishly."

The tie brings Loyola to a 3-4-1 overall record this season. The Ramblers travel to Bowling Green, Ohio on Sunday, where they will play the Falcons at 12 p.m. CT.
