Illinois State Uses Early Goal To Top Loyola, 1-0

Aug. 30, 2008

Final Stats

Evanston, Ill. - Illinois State used a 32nd-minute goal from Racquel Rattray to take the lead and Loyola could not find a way back in the second half in a 1-0 loss to the Redbirds this afternoon at the Lakeside Invitational hosted by Northwestern. Loyola drops to 1-2 on the season after its second straight 1-0 loss while Illinois State maintains its perfect start to the 2008 season with three wins in as many matches.

Rattray's goal was the only tally in an even opening 45 minutes. The Redbirds outshot the Ramblers, 6-5, in the period and kept LU from finding its offensive flow. Loyola pushed the pace in the second period, holding ISU without a shot after halftime but could not find an equalizing goal.

Loyola wraps up tournament play on Monday evening with a 6 p.m. match against LSU.
