Oct. 17, 2008

Final Stats

Valparaiso, Ind. - Sophomore Cara Morawski's goal in the 77th minute proved to be enough as Loyola snatched a 1-0 win over Valparaiso this afternoon at Eastgate Field in Valparaiso, Ind. Loyola improves to 10-8 (5-1 Horizon) while Valpo slumps to 9-5-1 (1-4) with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, Loyola increased the pressure early the second half with Laura Trevillian hitting the crossbar in the 56th minute. Morawski had a 72nd-minute effort go wide before latching on to a feed from Cynthia Morote-Ariza and finishing from five yards out for her first goal of the year. For Morote-Ariza, it was her NCAA-leading 16th assist of the year.

With the win, the Ramblers move back into first place in the Horizon League with previous co-leaders Butler and Milwaukee doing battle tonight in Milwaukee.
