Early Goals Sink Loyola At Wisconsin, 3-0

Oct. 11, 2007

Final Stats

Madison, Wis. - Host Wisconsin took a page out of Loyola's book to success, scoring a pair of early goals en route to a 3-0 win over the Ramblers tonight on a typical, chilly fall evening in Madison, Wis. The loss snaps Loyola's program-best winning streak at six matches and sends the Ramblers to 8-6 on the year while the Badgers improve to 5-6-1 with the win.

Wisconsin struck first as Tricia Krombach got the Badgers off to a great start by poking in a loose ball from a corner kick in just the fourth minute for a 1-0 lead. Krombach doubled the lead just 13 minutes later, putting in her second of the match and third of the season after 17 minutes. Loyola tried to cut into the Badgers lead but were unable to do so and UW's Sheri Ferron sealed the win with a goal in the 83rd minute.

The three goals allowed were more than LU had given up in its last five matches combined and the match also marked the first time that the Ramblers had been held off the scoreboard since the last time it faced a Big Ten school (Northwestern, Sept. 12).

Loyola returns to action on Sunday, putting its perfect Horizon League record on the line against Butler. Kick-off at Loyola Soccer Park is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the Rambler men's team scheduled to face Butler at 3 p.m.
